SOUTHERN MAINE BOXING CLUB

Southern Maine Boxing Club is a 501(c)(3) non-profit amateur boxing organization located at 140 Main St Suite 108 in downtown Biddeford, Maine, accessed via the rear entrance. The club was founded in 2003 by the late Dick Potvin to give local youth a structured alternative to negative activities, and relocated to downtown Biddeford after the Osher Community Center closed in June 2005. Today, Dick's son, Program Director and Head Coach Jay Potvin, runs the gym alongside volunteers. The club is open Monday through Thursday from 5 PM to 8 PM for both youths and adults, teaching Olympic-style amateur boxing, basic nutrition, and physical conditioning while emphasizing self-control, personal responsibility, anger management, and goal setting. Monthly membership dues help cover rent, utilities, equipment, and USA Boxing registration fees, but the club never turns away any youth who cannot afford to pay.
